Noida Lift Incident: Domestic Helpers Rescued After Being Stuck in Elevator

A fatal accident was narrowly avoided after two domestic helpers were rescued from a stalled lift at Jaypee Wishtown Society, Sector 134, Noida. The helpers were trapped in the lift for approximately an hour, crying for help without initially receiving any response from the guards or maintenance staff. They tried to alert security by pressing the emergency alarm button, but their distress signals went unnoticed for a considerable time.

After an hour, the guards and maintenance team arrived and rescued them. A video of the incident has since gone viral. According to reports, residents of the society have been continuously complaining about the poor maintenance of the lift.

The domestic helpers likely never imagined that taking an elevator could become problematic on their way to work. In the viral video, two women, one dressed in a red salwar kurta and the other in yellow, were reportedly ascending in the society's elevator when it halted due to a technical fault. After the elevator stopped, the women pressed the emergency button, but no assistance arrived. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, June 23.

The guards arrived at the scene and attempted to open the elevator door, but their bare hands couldn't pry it open. After a while, the maintenance staff arrived and managed to open the door. In the video, the domestic helpers are seen jumping from the elevator, which was stuck just above the ground floor. With the help of the guards, they climbed out of the lift. The incident was captured on video and shared by the Instagram page Greater Noida Residents, quickly going viral.

Neglecting the maintenance of the lift has consistently caused issues for both residents and visitors. 'Ye Noida ke har society me har din ka hai ye sab (Translation: This is an everyday problem in Noida's societies),' commented one user on the post.
