PM Modi Inaugurates Dwaraka Expressway In Haryana

PM Modi: Aiming to ease the vehicular movement and ease congestion between the national capital and Gurugram on the NH-48, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Haryana section of the eight-lane segment of the Dwarka Expressway on Monday constructed at a cost of Rs 4,100 crore.

This section of the Dwarka Expressway encompasses a 10.2 Km stretch from the Delhi-Haryana border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge, while an 8.7 Km section from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula.

Inaugurating the Dwaraka Expressway, PM Modi stated that there was a time when people used to avoid the area where the expressway was considered. “Even the cab drivers used to refuse that they should not come here as this area was considered so unsafe”, he said.

“Now, several big companies are coming here. This area become one of the fastest developing areas of the Delhi NCR”, PM Modi.

Top Key Aways Of Dwarka Expressway

Constructed at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore, the Dwarka Expressway is divided into four segments out of which the initial two sections spanning approximately 10 km located in the national capital, and the third and fourth totalling 19 km are in Gurugram.

The expressway starts from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, the recently inaugurated connects Dwarka Sector 21, the Gurugram border, Basai, and concludes near Kherki Daula on NH-48.

It comprises several features including entirely access-controlled, grade-separated 14-lane, four multi-level interchanges, including tunnels or underpasses, a ground-level road section, and an elevated flyover Expressway.

The expressway will benefit more than three lakh commuters daily, as per the government data. The expressway aims to reduce traffic congestion, control vehicular pollution, etc.

The Dwarka Expressway construction, which began in 2018 with an initial completion target of 2021, experienced delays owing to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has recently declared that the entire project is set to be finalized by August this year.
