A 17-year-old teen, also the son of a well-known Pune builder, spent Rs 48,000 in 90 minutes at Cosie and Blak Mariott pubs before crashing his Porsche Taycan into a motorcycle, killing two young tech professionals in the early hours of early Sunday.

Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the teen paid the Rs 48,000 bill at Cosie, the first pub he and his friends visited, at 10:40 PM on Saturday. After being refused service at Cosie, they moved to Blak Mariott at 12:10 AM. "We have obtained the bill, which includes the cost of liquor served to the teenager and his friends," Kumar stated.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manoj Patil reported that the teenager had been drinking at pubs before the accident. "We have plenty of CCTV footage showing the boy and his group consuming alcohol. Blood sample reports are still pending," Patil said. Despite awaiting these reports, Pune police charged the 17-year-old under Section 185 (drink driving) of the Motor Vehicle Act based on the current evidence.

In response to allegations by Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut that the police, in collusion with an MLA, was favouring the teenager, the police commissioner denied any favouritism or political pressure. "We have followed legal procedures from the start and welcome any legal expert to review our actions," Kumar asserted.
