He returned to Bengaluru on May 31 and was subsequently arrested by the SIT team. After his arrest, he was in police custody until June 6.

As soon as he landed on May 31, a team of all-women cops, led by a woman IPS officer, was sent by the Karnataka SIT to arrest the former JD(S) MP. Prajwal was arrested by a team of five women police officers, in what appeared to be a symbolic message.
