EY Pune Employee: Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday had a conversation with the parents of Anna Sebastian Perayil who is said to have died of extreme pressure of work at Ernst & Young. He assured them that he would continue to fight for reforms to alleviate the agony faced by millions of professionals in India.

Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences over the video call and praised the determination shown by the family at this difficult moment to raise the issue of improving work conditions for millions of professionals in the country.

Rahul Gandhi Assured To Fight For Working Professionals

Rahul Gandhi assured the family that he would take this cause forward as Leader of the Opposition and asked the AIPC Chairman to start an awareness movement, in memory of Anna, for working professionals in every state of India.

This would soon be supplemented by AIPC declaring a helpline to gather information from corporate professionals about work stress and toxic work culture. And thereafter, AIPC will proceed towards working on draft guidelines to implement better working conditions for professionals in the corporate sector, it added.

Last night, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor shared on X that he had a very emotional conversation with Sibi Joseph, the father of Anna Sebastian.

Anna died from cardiac arrest after toiling away for four months at Ernst & Young, working seven days a week, 14 hours a day.
