Relief From Heatwave As Duststorm Sweeps Delhi; Rain Predicted

A duststorm swept through several parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday night, providing slight relief from the region's heatwave conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the national capital experienced a change in weather due to a new western disturbance..

The weather office forecasted a partly cloudy sky for Friday, with the possibility of a duststorm or thunderstorm accompanied by light rain. They predicted the maximum temperature to be 43 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature to be 29 degrees Celsius.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, slightly above normal and lower than the 44 degrees Celsius recorded on Wednesday. The minimum temperature was 24.6 degrees Celsius, which is three notches below normal.

The Met department predicted that heatwave conditions would persist in isolated pockets of northeast Madhya Pradesh until June 10, in Jharkhand from June 7-10, and in Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar from June 8-10.

They also forecasted heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh on June 7 (Friday) and expected hot and humid weather in isolated pockets of Bihar on June 7 and in Gangetic West Bengal until June 10.

The weather office expected some relief from the heatwave on June 7, with light to very light rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds predicted in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. They also mentioned the possibility of a duststorm in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan on the same day. The IMD predicted a hailstorm in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan on June 7.
