Stampede Scare: 25000 Aspirants Turned Up At Mumbai Airport For Air India Job Worth Rs. 22,000; WATCH
A massive crowd of 25,000 job seekers flocked to Air India Airport Services Ltd's walk-in interview in Kalina on Tuesday, leading to chaotic scenes. Social media is flooded with videos showing thousands of people rushing towards the interview center, with some even climbing vehicles and trees to reach the venue faster.
This is Mumbai's Kalina, where a massive crowd of job seekers emerged as the Air India Airport Services Ltd announced walk-in interviews.

Amid the commotion, authorities intervened to prevent a potential stampede. George Abram, the general secretary of the Aviation Industry Employees Guild, described the recruitment process as 'mismanaged,' as reported.

Air India Airport Services had announced walk-in interviews for 2,216 vacancies for the position of handyman, a role involving various repairs and maintenance tasks and for utility agents.
In a notification dated June 28, the company stated: 'AI Airport Services Ltd (formerly known as Air India Air Transport Services Limited) (AIASL) wishes to fill existing vacancies as per estimated requirements and maintain a waiting list for future vacancies. Indian Nationals (Male & Female) who meet the requirements may apply for various posts at Mumbai International Airport on a Fixed Term Contract basis (3 years), renewable subject to performance and company needs. The number of vacancies is indicative and may vary as per operational requirements.'
The notification also mentioned that 'The reservation will be as per the Presidential Directives. The actual reservation of vacancies would depend upon the prevailing strength at the time of appointment.'
Despite the disarray, the company has assured that all submitted CVs will be reviewed, and eligible candidates will be contacted for further processing.
This incident follows a similar scenario in Gujarat's Bharuch, where hundreds of job seekers turned up for an interview organized by chemical firm Thermax Company for just 10 vacant positions. A video of that large crowd also went viral on social media.
