Statements about caste have been made frequently in the country, and politics has been involved in caste issues. In this context, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his anger over caste politics.

While speaking at an event, Nitin Gadkari said that caste politics is currently happening in Maharashtra. He stated, "I do not believe in casteism. Anyone who talks about caste will face my anger."

He mentioned that 40 percent of the population in his constituency is Muslim and told them, "I am from the RSS. I am a half chaddi wala." He urged people to think carefully before voting so they don't regret their choice later. He promised to work for those who vote for him and for those who don’t as well.

Assembly elections will take place in Maharashtra this year, as the assembly's term ends on November 26. Elections will be held for 288 assembly seats in October and November.

In the last election, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54, and Congress 44 seats. However, after the election, Shiv Sena left the NDA and formed a government with NCP and Congress, with Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister.

In June 2022, Shiv Sena faced internal conflict, leading Eknath Shinde to split from the party with 40 MLAs. He became Chief Minister with BJP's support. Now, Shiv Sena is divided into two groups. The NCP has also split into two factions, led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar. Recently, Sharad Pawar claimed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (which includes NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena's Thackeray faction) will win 225 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra elections.

BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar's NCP teamed up to contest 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. However, the NDA faced significant losses compared to 2019, winning only 19 seats. BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) each secured 9 seats, while Ajit Pawar's NCP won 1 seat. In contrast, the India Block won 28 seats, with Congress getting 13, Sharad Pawar's NCP winning 8, and Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) securing 7 seats. An independent candidate also won 1 seat.
