On June 6, a man in  Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh shot a 20-year-old girl after she repeatedly rejected his advances and refused to engage in conversation with him. CCTV footage captured the girl attempting to snatch the pistol from the accused, Rohit, before he fired the shot.

The accused had been harassing the girl, a second-year BA student at Mahila Degree College, for the last five to six months, displaying intense affection towards her. He had been persistently pressuring the victim to engage in conversation with him, despite her repeated refusals.
