Uttar Pradesh: Girl Shot While Trying To Snatch Pistol From Harasser After Rejecting His Advances

A 20-year-old girl, who had rejected the man's advances multiple times, tried to grab his pistol but was shot. She is now stable. The police have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the culprit.

On June 6, a man in  Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh shot a 20-year-old girl after she repeatedly rejected his advances and refused to engage in conversation with him. CCTV footage captured the girl attempting to snatch the pistol from the accused, Rohit, before he fired the shot.

The accused had been harassing the girl, a second-year BA student at Mahila Degree College, for the last five to six months, displaying intense affection towards her. He had been persistently pressuring the victim to engage in conversation with him, despite her repeated refusals.

When the girl was returning home from her college after completing an exam, the accused confronted her once more and attempted to engage her in conversation. Upon the victim's refusal again, Rohit drew a pistol and aimed it at her.

In the CCTV footage, the victim was observed trying to wrest the pistol from the accused before he subdued her and fired the shot. Fortunately, her condition is currently stable.

Prior to the altercation, Rohit and his associates had caused disruption in the street and displayed weapons and swords outside the victim's residence. A video of the incident circulated widely on social media.

The victim's mother stated that Rohit used to stalk her daughter and gaze at her with malicious intent. She mentioned that she had lodged complaints with his family members, and he had promised not to stalk or harass her daughter.

However, her mother added that after some time, Rohit began to stalk her daughter.

Uttar Pradesh Police Is Looking After The Matter

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gyanendra Kumar stated that the police acknowledged the issue and initiated a search to locate and apprehend the accused.
