Uttar Pradesh: Fear gripped Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich over the past 45 days as a bloodthirsty pack of wolves wreaked havoc, killing eight people, including children and a woman. The relentless attacks have instilled fear in the community with a sense of terror spreading across the district. The forest department has managed to capture four wolves, yet the threat prevails over the region.
'Operation Bhediya' has been launched by the Forest Department with drone cameras, infrared, and thermal imaging cams after the death toll touched eight. Amid the growing threat, Authorities are patrolling at night, women and children are indoors, nets and cages have been set up to trap these predators and Mahasi MLA Sureshwar Singh stays vigilant with his licensed rifle. Forest Officials explain that the wolves, driven out of their natural habitat due to waterlogging and incessant rainfall, are now causing widespread terror.

What Triggered The Aggressive Attacks In Bahraich?
The deadly attack of wolves in Bahraich could be attributed to a significant disruption in their usual hunting habits. Studies suggest that their sudden aggression may stem from disintegration among them as they usually hunt in packs. Driven by hunger during the rainy season, their pack structure may have been disrupted, leading to aggressive attacks on people in Bahraich.
Jackal Pugmarks Found In Sardarpur
A chilling discovery was made by a team of the Forest Department in the farmland of Sardarpur today. They found jackal pugmarks, adding to the growing threat of wolves in Bahraich.
According to the SDO of the Forest Department, Vikas Yadav, the size of the pug marks indicates that they belong to a jackal, not a wolf as it has a larger pug size. To ensure safety, Forest Team will conduct a combing operation in the area, he added.
