Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case

Kolkata Rape Murder Case: In the ongoing investigation of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing potential tampering with evidence. The case has captivated public attention and involves suspicions that some individuals connected to the crime might have altered evidence to obscure the truth. The CBI’s inquiry into this angle highlights serious concerns about the integrity of the investigation and the potential involvement of multiple parties in the evidence tampering.

Video Raises Questions On Crime Scene Handling

The disturbing developments began with the discovery of the victim’s body in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9. A video recently surfaced on social media, showing close associates of Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of the hospital, in the seminar hall shortly after the body was found. The video does not display the victim’s body, and its authenticity remains unverified. The presence of these individuals so soon after the discovery raises questions about handling the crime scene.

Following the discovery, Kolkata police claimed that a substantial portion of the seminar hall was secured immediately. However, the CBI has expressed doubts about this claim, stating that protocol requires the entire seminar hall to be sealed as a crime scene, with no access permitted to unauthorized individuals. The discrepancy between the police's actions and standard procedure has prompted further scrutiny from the CBI.

CBI Probes Forged Letter, Autopsy Suspicion

In addition to investigating the crime scene, the CBI is also looking into a letter that has circulated widely on social media. The agency suspects that this letter, which may be a forgery, is being used to spread false information intentionally. Efforts are underway to trace the origins of this letter and understand its impact on the investigation.

The CBI’s involvement in the case was mandated by an order from the Kolkata High Court, which took over the investigation following concerns about the initial handling of the case. The agency’s focus includes examining the postmortem process for possible tampering. The CBI has visited the hospital's police morgue to investigate whether the autopsy was conducted properly and without interference.

CBI Polygraph Tests And Interrogations

As part of its investigation, the CBI has conducted polygraph tests on two security guards from RG Kar Hospital who were on duty in the seminar hall area on the night of the crime. The tests are part of a broader effort to understand the sequence of events and identify any individuals who may have been involved in tampering with evidence. Additionally, former principal Sandeep Ghosh has been questioned daily for the past two weeks. To date, the CBI has administered polygraph tests to ten individuals connected to the case.
