West Bengal: Five wagons of an empty goods train derailed On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at New Maynaguri station in the Alipurduar Division of West Bengal.

Railway officials reported that the incident occurred at 6:26 AM on Tuesday.

The railways stated that trains have been rerouted, and movement has not been impacted. Senior officers, including the DRM of Alipurduar, have reached the site.

Officials said that restoration work is underway. The station has five lines, and train movement there will be restored soon.

Station Superintendent Mukesh Kumar told ANI that a goods train derailed around 6:20 am today. He confirmed that there were no casualties and that restoration work was going on.

Goods Train Derailed At Maynaguri Station

Alipurduar Division DRM Amarjit Gautam said the department is working to restore traffic quickly, and an investigation is ongoing.

DRM Amarjit Gautam said to ANI that five wagons of an empty goods train derailed near New Maynaguri station this morning. They are trying to restore traffic and are still trying to confirm what led to the accident, he added.
