Tripura: Farmers highly value the famous queen pineapple, the state fruit of Tripura. As one of India's largest pineapple-growing states, Tripura boasts commercial-scale plantations throughout its territory.

The queen pineapple fruits are golden yellow, sharp, and possess a sweet smell. The best time to harvest them is when their eyes turn yellow, typically from mid-May to mid-July. Queen pineapples have a unique aroma that distinguishes them from other varieties.

Tripura Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced the 600 kg batch of queen pineapple from Agartala station to Oman. The consignment will first reach Guwahati and then by air to Oman.

Speaking after the flag ceremony on Thursday, Mr Nath said, "We are sending 600 kg of Queen Pineapple by Guwahati Express. Finally, it will reach Oman by flight from Assam. Besides, we have an order to send 5 tonnes of Queen Variety. In Dubai, the government is negotiating with buyers for a larger batch of 30 MT Kew to send pineapple to the Netherlands.

Elaborating on the growing demand for Tripura-grown agricultural produce in the national and international markets, Mr. Nath said, "I was in Germany. After talking to the vendors there, we received orders for black rice and poultry. eye chilies. , Kali Khasa and black sesame in large quantities."

According to the minister, the meeting of buyers and sellers organized in various parts of the country created a massive reception.

"We will go to Indore on June 20 to organize a buyer-seller meeting. Earlier we organized similar events in Varanasi, Delhi, and Agartala. Earlier, pineapple was priced at ₹ 15-16 per piece, which is now up to ₹ 32. per piece, reducing transportation costs, as well as products such as jackfruit, ginger, apple tree, and betel leaves, will be sent abroad before the 2018 national agricultural products. When we saw pineapple as a profitable crop, we adopted excellent technology for year-round production," he added.
