Who Is Kajal Khatri? ‘Lady Don’ Arrested For Airline Crew’s Murder
Kajal Khatri, popularly known as ‘Lady Don’ has been arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch in connection with murder case of Air India Crew member Suraj Mann in January this year. She was arrested from a hotel in Hisar, Haryana.
What Was The Matter?
Suraj Mann was killed while he was leaving from the gym in sector 104, Noida. An old rivalry and a 15-year long dispute over 100 acre land between his brother, gangster Parvesh Mann and gangster Kapil Mann alias Kallu is said to be the motive behind his killing. While Suraj wasn’t directly involved in the conflict, he lost his life due to it. Both Parvesh Mann and Kapil Mann are currently lodged in Mandoli Jail.
According to the police, Kajal Khatri aka the ‘Lady Don’ had ordered the killing of Suraj Mann on instruction of her partner, Kapil Mann. It is said that Kapil wanted to avenge his father’s killing and had suspected involvement of Parvesh Mann. According to the police, no criminal record was found against Suraj but was suspected of providing financial assistance to his brother (Parvesh Mann)
Role of ‘Lady Don’ In Murder
‘Lady Don’ was on run from January and is accused to be running her partner Kapil’s gang and operation after his arrest in 2019. She had a bounty of Rs 25000 on her head, said the police.
ADCP Manish Kumar Mishra said, it was Kajal who had mediated between Kapil and the shooters to carry on the murder of Suraj. She had also made payment on behalf of the gang. The police is planning to take swift against Kajal under Gangsters act. "During the investigation, the names of approximately 10 individuals came to light. Kajal Khatri (Lady Don) has been taken on transit remand. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining three suspects. The investigation continues to apprehend the rest", said ADCP Manish Kumar Mishra.
Who Was 'Lady Don'?
Kajal was a student of Delhi University, but dropped out from the college in her final year. She completed her schooling from a renowned school in Rohini. She met Kapil Mann, a gangster at a gym in between 2016-2017. Kajal helped him in 2019 when he was arrested for a murder case with Gogi. She later shifted from Delhi to Sonipat after Kapil’s father was killed by the rival gangsters in 2019. Kajal Khatri referred herself as Kapil’s wife in jail records and she even claims that they got married at a temple before his arrest. She was a regular visitor of Kapil in jail. She was referred as ‘Lady Don’ by the gang members of Kallu.
Her role wasn’t anticipated in the initial probe but was brought up by the UP police in their investigation. “We found she had been heading the gang since 2019-20 and was behind the murder. She was seen conducting recce and records of her social media chats were also leaked,” an investigator said. She was absconding and hiding in locations around Delhi-UP and Haryana. She frequently changed her locations to avoid the arrest, but was caught finally at her hotel. The arrest is a big success and investigation on the murder about the remaining suspects will continue said the police.
