WhatsApp To Introduce Hindi Voice Note Transcription: Here’s How It Works

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will enable users to transcribe voice messages directly on their devices. Initially spotted in a beta update for WhatsApp on iPhone, there are also signs that this feature may soon be available for Android users as well.

Whatsapp Voice Note To Get Big Update

According to WABetainfo, users will need to download an additional 150MB of app data to enable voice note transcription. This feature relies on advanced speech recognition technology that operates locally on the user's device, maintaining end-to-end encryption.

Once the extra data is downloaded, users will be able to read their voice messages, which could be particularly helpful in situations where playing a voice recording is impractical.

Another report from WABetainfo, referring to WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.13.8, mentions that WhatsApp is also refining this feature by allowing users to select a language for voice transcriptions. Currently, there are five language options: Hindi, English, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish. After choosing a language, users will be prompted to download the necessary data package to activate the transcription process.

Although WABetainfo has observed this feature in various beta versions, users will need to wait for WhatsApp's official release to start using voice note transcriptions.
