Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has predicted that the Proteas will edge past India in the T20 World Cup Final on June 29, Saturday in Barbados. South Africa, who have remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, reached their first World Cup final by crushing Afghanistan in the semi-final.

Ahead of the final, De Villiers posted a video on his official X account, stating that the moment of truth had arrived for the team. The former captain expressed his support for the Proteas, anticipating a close contest against India.

The Proteas has maintained a perfect record in the T20 World Cup 2024 so far. They began their campaign with a convincing win against Sri Lanka on a challenging New York pitch, followed by two close games against the Netherlands and Bangladesh. They narrowly defeated Nepal to move on to the Super 8s.

In the Super 8 stage, South Africa topped Group 2 with victories over the USA, England, and the West Indies, securing their place in the semi-final. In the semi-final, the Proteas bowlers dominated Afghanistan, leading to a comprehensive 9-wicket win.
