Usman Khawaja has enjoyed a front-row seat watching David Warner at the crease, and he hopes the Australian team can give his opening partner a fitting farewell with a T20 World Cup victory. Warner plans to retire from international cricket after Australia's current T20 World Cup campaign, and Khawaja believes this will only happen after they win the final.

Australia Looking To Give David Warner A Proper Send-Off

The experienced Australian opener is confident that a surprising loss to Afghanistan won't prevent Mitchell Marsh's team from winning their second T20 World Cup since 2021.

Even if Australia loses to India in their last Super 8 match in Gros Islet on Monday evening (India time), Afghanistan would need to overcome significant odds to surpass Australia in net run rate. "If Australia beats India and reaches the semi-finals, I definitely think they can win. We just need to get to the semi-final," Khawaja said.

He highlighted Australia's knack for elevating their performance during knockout stages.

The 37-year-old Pakistan-born batter, who has played 73 Tests for Australia, also acknowledged that while no team is invincible, India will be a tough opponent.

Regarding Australia's upcoming series against India and the home Ashes in 2025, Khawaja described both as the pinnacle of cricketing contests.
