CONFIRMED! IPL 2024 To Start From March 22, Entire Tournament To Take Place In India
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on March 22 in India, despite pending general elections. The schedule for the 17th edition will be released in stages due to election uncertainties. The tournament, initially planned for March 22 start, will precede the T20 World Cup, with the final likely on May 26. The opening match will feature Chennai Super Kings against Gujarat Titans.
The Indian Premier League, set to kick off on March 22, will be held solely in India despite the upcoming general elections in April and May. League chairman Arun Dhumal informed that the schedule for the 17th edition is pending due to the elections. Initially, only the first 15 days' schedule will be revealed, with the rest to follow after the election dates are announced. The Lok Sabha election dates are expected to be announced in early next month.

"We are looking at a March 22 start for the tournament. We are working closely with the government agencies and we will first release the initial schedule. The entire tournament will be held in India," stated Dhumal.
The IPL was held entirely overseas only once in 2009 (South Africa), and partially in the UAE in 2014 due to the general elections. However, in 2019, it was conducted in India despite the elections.
IPL Final
Given that the T20 World Cup starts shortly after the IPL concludes, it's likely that the final will take place on May 26.
