Ishan Kishan, a very talented wicket-keeper batter played a fantastic knock for India C in their Duleep Trophy game against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. His name was not there in the initial announcement by the BCCI naming teams for round two of the Duleep Trophy fixtures, but Kishan turned up for India C at No. 4. He was selected for the India D squad during the original selection for the opening round of the Duleep Trophy.

Kishan's Ton Puts India C In Dominant Position

Opener Ishan Kishan's stroke-filled 111 off 126 balls helped India C reach a comfortable position of 357 for 5 at stumps on Day 1 of their Duleep Trophy match against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur. His knock, along with Baba Indrajith's 78, propelled India C past the 300-run mark with the help of a 189-run third-wicket partnership. But despite the best efforts of Mukesh Kumar, who took 3 for 76 to slow India C down towards the close of play, the batting side were in a very strong position.

India B, who chose to bowl first, saw their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad steal a boundary off the very first ball of the match from Mukesh Kumar. The same Gaikwad seemed to have twisted his ankle attempting a quick single off the next delivery as he retired hurt. Rajat Patidar and Sai Sudharsan then shared a 92-run opening stand before both found themselves dismissed in quick succession, each falling within an over of the other.

No National Call-Up For Kishan

Kishan returned home midway from India's Tour of South Africa last year owing to personal issues and since then received a lot of negative publicity for that. Despite being one of the most dynamic wicketkeeper-batters of the country, he has been ignored so far as far as the selection into the national team is concerned.

There were whispers, of course, that his reluctance to take part in domestic cricket was the reason behind his benching from international events. Still, his selection in the first round of the Duleep Trophy was seen as a good omen that he would be coming into form.
