Sri Lanka would need an extra batsmen as major dependency is on Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal.
Both the teams have played 36 Test matches out of which England has won 17, which means that the hosts remain on the dominant side. Sri Lanka will have to put in extra effort in order to win the series.

Old Trafford's pitch typically benefits batsmen, which is why both teams are fielding pace-heavy line-ups. At present, the surface provides minimal support for spinners, though weather changes, particularly rain, could modify pitch conditions by the third or fourth day of the match.
