ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan's Champions Trophy Preparations Under Scanner, 5-Member ICC Team Visits

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan is all set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and important preparation for the event will soon start. A five-member delegation of the International Cricket Council will arrive in Karachi tonight to make an in-depth four-day observation of the availability of this country for this high-profile cricket meet.

Recent reports from local media sources have called into question the time that is being taken to complete renovation work at some of Pakistan's major cricket venues such as the Karachi National Stadium, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, and the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, the PCB is confident that it will achieve the deadlines given to them.

The ICC delegation will undertake an inspection; they will comprise senior officials with titles like senior events manager, events manager, security manager, general manager cricket, and production manager. The comprehensive inspections that will be conducted on the stadiums, practice facilities, and hotels will help ascertain whether all the arrangements made comply with the high standards expected in an event of this magnitude.

A PCB spokesperson said as quoted by Cricbuzz. "The redevelopment of the stadiums in Karachi and Lahore is moving ahead rapidly, and we're sure that the construction companies will be well within their deadlines. It is a necessity to upgrade these venues to the standard they need to be brought up to present-day standards.".

The ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025, has been provided with a budget of $65 million. It might be kept a secret from the world that Pakistan is badly looking to host the full tournament alone, as the fate of India's participation is still uncertain. So much so that if India was not included, this hybrid model would come to be adopted again-like the Asia Cup last year-the Indian matches would be rearranged elsewhere if needed.

'The improvements are going to be implemented in the stadiums, which are very much necessary for providing world-class facilities and improving the experience of the viewers, players, officials, and broadcasters, PCB commitment dictates that it remains committed to showing our venues as world-class destinations satisfying the standards of the game internationally to strengthen their position at the global sporting stage', according to the spokesperson.

That afternoon the focus will shift to Pakistan on September 21 when the ICC delegation leaves after they complete the visit; more than the time the assessment will be the most crucial thing that will determine, whether is Pakistan ready to host this international cricketing event.
