From a straitened 144/6 to an all-conquering 339/6, India has staged a tremendous comeback with the unbeaten 195-run stand between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. On an overcast morning that promised enough seam movement, Bangladesh was looking forward to bowling first. Hasan Mahmud did early damage dismissing Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli inside the first hour.

Despite the early shocks, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant combined well for a decent fifty-run stand. Mahmud again came back to claim Pant's wicket and left India in a terrible position. Jaiswal had played patiently and showed his skills by making half-centuries that did not come in handy against Nahid Rana. KL Rahul gave away soon after to leave India in a precarious position.

Ashwin-Jadeja Record Partnership!

It was then that Ashwin and Jadeja batted in tandem to change the course of the game in favor of India. Ashwin quickly got into the groove, playing some of the most exquisite shots on his home ground and perhaps his second Test century at this venue. Jadeja also batted rapidly, and the pair frustrated the Bangladesh bowlers who could not create much pressure. Having taken six wickets within the first two sessions, Bangladesh conceded 163 runs in the final session without one breakthrough.

With the match being turned around in India's favor, they are in a much better place. It will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves during the game. Bangladesh needs to up the ante on their over-rate and make early inroads with the second new ball if it hopes to turn the game around.
