KL Rahul has been absent from the last three Test matches due to injury. Cricbuzz reported that he might also miss the final game in Dharamsala. Rahul hasn't fully recovered from the quadriceps injury sustained in the first Test, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent him to London for further assessment by specialists.

Despite being reportedly '90 per cent' fit for the third Test, the team management and National Cricket Academy (NCA) decided to reevaluate his condition. Rahul was initially included in the squad for the final three matches of the series, with his availability dependent on his recovery. With India already leading the series 3-1, selectors might opt to give him more time to recuperate, considering the upcoming T20 World Cup.
