Aman, making his debut at the Olympics, has reached the semifinals in the 57kg freestyle wrestling category. Following his victory over a Macedonian opponent in the earlier round, he convincingly overcame Zelimkhan to advance to the final four. His success has rekindled India's chances for a wrestling medal, especially after Vinesh Phogat's disappointing loss on August 7.

The win guaranteed Aman Sehrawat a spot in the medal matches. He will fight against Japan’s Rei Higuchi later on Thursday in the semifinals. A victory over the top-seeded Japanese wrestler will secure at least a silver medal for Aman, while a loss will lead him to compete in the bronze-medal bout.

In the women’s 57kg category, India’s Anshu Malik lost 7-2 to Helen Louise Maroulis of the USA, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist. Maroulis advanced to the semifinals, and if she makes it to the final, Anshu will have a chance to compete in the repechage round.
