With the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) entering its final stages, the impact player rule is the one debate that has garnered a lot of attention in recent times. Players like Rohit Sharma expressed his opinion on the same and saying that it has somehow interrupted the game in terms of the game of all-rounders who are not able to show their abilities with both bat and ball.

Aakash Chopra On New Rule To Favour Bowlers

However, former Indian cricket team player Aakash Chopra had a slightly different opinion to that of Rohit's as he said that with an extra Indian player getting to showcase his talent and the rule helping in experiencing bigger totals as well, it is not that bad as well. Aakash also suggested that as long as bowlers are being taken into consideration, this rule hasn't gone well for them.

Totals going as far as 270 are not a good sight for bowlers and for that, a rule should be implemented that will see lethal bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd Siraj bowl not 4 but 6 overs in a T20 game which will sort of put both batters and bowlers on a level playing field.

Aakash's comment about the implementation of the new rule did get a lot of support from fans as well as they too think that the league is looking more like a batters show rather than a balanced act of both bat and ball.

The race for the IPL playoff spots is getting more and more intensifying with teams losing out on easy opportunities at times to secure their position for the knockout stages.
