Shreyas Iyer, despite missing the final days of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy finals due to a back problem, will be making amends for his side, having missed the last season as well. While he's cleared to play, he's been advised to avoid excessive stretching of his leg, particularly during the forward defense, to prevent aggravating his injury.

With the focus shifting to the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders received a good news regarding their skipper Shreyas Iyer who has been declared fit to play this season despite of complains related to his back. Shreyas Iyer, despite missing the final days of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy finals due to a back problem, will be making amends for his side, having missed the last season as well.

However, there's a condition attached. As the newly appointed captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he has been cautioned by a spine specialist in Mumbai, following advice from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore. While he's cleared to play, he's been advised to avoid excessive stretching of his leg, particularly during the forward defense, to prevent aggravating his injury.

“He is fit to play, a specialist spine doctor was consulted in Mumbai who has advised him not to stretch his leg too forward while defending the ball. He has joined IPL franchise KKR and he can play,” a source in the Indian board informed.

Shreyas Iyer Troubled WIth Injury

Iyer's fitness concerns have been making headlines recently. Despite his assertions of experiencing back pain after a certain number of balls, the BCCI medical team remained skeptical. Consequently, he was excluded from the BCCI's annual retainer contract after disregarding selectors' instructions to participate in the Ranji Trophy.

Although Iyer skipped the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals, he did play in the semi-finals and finals for Mumbai. In the final match, he scored 95 runs in the second innings but was unable to field due to recurring back pain. Subsequently, the MCA medical team opted to conduct an MRI scan, and the results were forwarded to the NCA for further assessment.
