IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant Fires Delhi Capitals To 224/4 Against GT

DC vs GT: Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) saw Rishabh Pant and Co. take on the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on April 24. Delhi Capitals are in dire need of a victory and could see them climb above their opponents on the night, GT if they bag the 2 points at home.

Rishabh Pant's 88* Powers DC To 224/4

Put to bat first, DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Jake Frazer McGurk couldn't lift their team off to a great start in the powerplay as Gujarat bowlers managed to pick 3 wickets within the powerplay. While McGurk's 14-ball 23 was exciting enough for the fans, it wasn't enough for Delhi who would've hoped for the Aussie batter to stay a little longer on the crease.

It was skipper Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel who gave the hosts some momentum in the innings as they tried and fire DC to a competitive total.

Gujarat pacer Sandeep Warrier starred on the night for the visitors as he managed to take the first three wickets within the powerplay. Shubman Gill's decision to then switch to a spin attack also worked wonders and limited the run rate in the middle courtesy of the Afghan duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed.

Axar Patel's blazing fifty paired with skipper Rishabh Pant's 43-ball 88* powered Delhi to a competitive 224/4 in their 20 overs in the end.
