RCB vs CSK: Match 68 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on the Chennai Super Kings in what is a knockout tie in Bengaluru on May 18 to qualify for the IPL playoffs on the night.

RCB Post 218/5 vs CSK

Put to bat first, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were right on track for a 200-odd total with both batters hitting good cricketing shots right from the start. However, the play had to be paused because of rain which was predicted in advance in Bengaluru.

After play resumed on the night, the track suddenly experienced more turns as spinners Mitchell Santner and Ravindra Jadeja slowed down the game which eventually resulted in the batters getting frustrated in the middle. Virat Kohli also fell prey to the same and lost his wicket playing an ill-timed shot which was caught by Daryll Mitchell. Virat Kohli's 47 runs meant that he became the only player with 3000 runs at a single venue in the IPL.

The match took another turn when skipper Faf du Plessis who scored a resilient half-century was dismissed for a controversial run-out which caused a stir even on the internet. While Rajat Patidar's shot was directed towards the wicket by Santner, the replay showed Du Plessis' bat was into the crease when the ball struck the wicket. However, the 3rd umpire said that the bat was in the air and gave the out signal.

It was the explosive knocks of Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green who continued the good start by the hosts and took the team to a competitive total of 218/5 in their 20 overs.

Patidar scored a 22-ball 41 while Green also contributed with a fiery 38* runs on the night as RCB hoped to defend the total and secure a victory by a margin of 18 runs or more.
