On Friday, May 10, Sai Sudharsan made history by becoming the fastest Indian player to reach 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This left-handed batter achieved the milestone in his 25th innings during the IPL 2024 match against CSK at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who reached the milestone in their 31st innings.

Sudharsan also joined Matthew Hayden as the joint third-fastest player overall to reach 1000 IPL runs. Shaun Marsh holds the record, achieving the feat in 21 innings, followed by Lendl Simmons in second place with 23 innings. Jonny Bairstow, Chris Gayle, Kane Williamson, and Michael Hussey reached 1000 runs in 26, 27, 28, and 30 innings respectively.

In the 2023 IPL final, Sudharsan fell short of a century against CSK, being dismissed for 96. However, he made up for it in the recent match, scoring his maiden IPL hundred off 50 balls. He reached his fifty off 32 balls and then completed his century with a six over long leg off Simarjeet Singh's bowling.

Partnering with Shubman Gill, who also reached his century off 50 balls, Sudharsan created significant trouble for the Super Kings. Their partnership of 210 runs for the opening wicket off 17.2 overs marked the sixth 200-plus partnership in IPL history.
