India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was a key player in the match, scoring 113 runs in the first innings and taking six wickets (6/88) in the second innings. For his great performance, Ashwin was named Player of the Match.

Ravichandran Ashwin now holds the record for the most five-wicket hauls in World Test Championship history, with 11. Nathan Lyon is second with 10 hauls.

The five-wicket haul in this match was Ashwin's 37th, tying him with Shane Warne. Only Muttiah Muralitharan has more.

With 180 wickets in 36 WTC matches, Ashwin is now second, just behind Nathan Lyon’s 187.

Tied for Third in Player of the Match Awards

Ashwin has won his 10th Player of the Match award, tying with Virat Kohli, Jadeja, and Kumble. Only Tendulkar (14) and Dravid (11) have more.

1000 Runs and 100 Wickets in WTC

With his 113 runs, Ashwin has scored over 1000 runs in WTC, becoming only the second player after Jadeja to achieve this milestone while also taking 100 wickets.
