After Pakistan's loss to the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup, there was a strong reaction from the Pakistani cricket community. The defeat, which occurred in a Super Over after both teams finished with the same score in regular play at Dallas' Grand Prairie Stadium, was described as a "black day" for Pakistan cricket. Younis Khan, a former captain, criticized the team's tactical errors during crucial moments and expressed disappointment, noting the significant Pakistani community in the USA that supports the team fervently.

"I would have liked to see Fakhar Zaman take the strike in the super over against the left-arm seamer. But one can only learn from such a bad day and I hope Babar Azam and the other players now take every game as a do or die game," Younis said.

Another former captain, Rashid Latif, posted an image on X revealing that Pakistan had canceled a gala dinner. He questioned the decision-making and scheduling, asking, "Who is providing the tour schedule in advance? Are these pre-arranged? Who is approving events during a World Cup? @TheRealPCBMedia."

Former opener Mohsin Khan voiced concerns about the future of Pakistan cricket. He highlighted the critical importance of the upcoming match against India, describing it as a do-or-die situation for the struggling team. Prior to this defeat, Pakistan had also suffered losses to Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland.

"This is not just a defeat, it is a sorry statement on the mental strength of our players. I don't know what is going on but somewhere I got a feeling our players underestimated USA," he said.

Javed Miandad, another former captain, praised the USA team for their remarkable achievement in securing a significant upset in their World Cup debut.

"I mean look at our experience and exposure compared to them but I give full credit to the USA for holding their nerves and playing with discipline. Look at the catches they took, it turned the match in their favour," he said.
