Legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar had an unexpected meeting with Pakistan captain Babar Azam in Dallas. The two engaged in an intimate conversation after encountering each other in the hotel's dining area. While Babar is in Dallas for the ongoing T20 World Cup, Gavaskar is part of the tournament's commentary team. In a video shared by Pakistan cricket, Gavaskar is seen explaining something as Babar attentively listens to the cricket icon.

Pakistan begins their T20 World Cup campaign on Thursday against co-hosts USA. The team, however, has faced harsh criticism from former players following a series defeat to England earlier this week.

Babar has also been criticized by former players for relying on selectors and not choosing the right players for the tournament. The match against the USA is crucial in the current context, as Pakistan will face arch-rivals India a few days later.

Babar Azam also talked about the much anticipated India-Pakistan match that will take place in New York on June 9.

"We know the Pakistan-India fixture generates more discussion than any other match. There is a different vibe altogether for this fixture, and there's a lot of excitement too not just among players but also among the fans. Wherever you go in the world, you'll have people talking about the India-Pakistan match with everyone supporting their country. Every fan eagerly waits for this fixture and focuses on this one particular match," Babar said in a PCB podcast.

India has lost to Pakistan only once in seven T20 World Cup meetings, with their sole defeat occurring in 2021 when the Virat Kohli-led side lost by 10 wickets in the Super 12 stage.
