'Playing Such A Shot...,' Indian Legend Slams Sarfaraz Khan's Batting

Representing the country for the first time in his Team India career, Sarfaraz Khan failed to convert a good fifty into his first Test hundred for the hosts as India looked to increase their lead against England on Day 2 of the 5th Test in Dharamsala. This was Sarfaraz's 3rd Test fifty in the series and the debutant would've felt that a good opportunity was missed by him to cement his place further in the side.

His fifty however, wasn't good in the opinion of Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar who thought that the batter should've shown more composure going into the third session.

"The ball was pitched up; it wasn't short enough for that shot. Goes for it and pays the price. I mean you are playing the first ball after tea. Give yourself a little sighter. Don Bradman said to me 'Every ball that I face, even if I am on 200, I think I am on 0.' And here is [Sarfaraz] is… playing such a shot first ball of the session," Gavaskar said during commentary in JioCinema.

England staged a comeback in the final session of the second day through a precise bowling display, yet India's determined lower-order batsmen ensured that the hosts maintained their advantage in the concluding Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Friday. By the close of play, India had amassed a total of 473/8, establishing a lead of 255 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah remaining unbeaten on scores of 27 (55 balls) and 19 (55 balls) respectively.
