Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, will join forces with French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz for the men's doubles event at the Paris Olympics, set to take place from July 26 to August 11. The captain of the Spanish team, David Ferrer, confirmed on Wednesday, June 12, that Nadal has been selected to compete in both singles and doubles.

Spanish Duo Of Nadal And Alcaraz To Feature In Paris Olympics

With a combined 15 Roland Garros titles, Nadal and Alcaraz will form a highly formidable pair in the men's doubles competition. The tennis events at the upcoming Olympics will be held on the clay courts of Paris.

"My body has been a jungle for two years. You don't know what to expect. I wake up one day and I find a snake biting me. Another day a tiger. I have been fighting with all the things that I went through. But the dynamic is positive the last few weeks. I felt ready. I think tomorrow I'll be ready to play again if I have to. But I will not have to," Nadal said after his first-round exit at French Open.

"So that's the thing. Now, I need to prepare myself, I need to clear my ideas and see what's the new calendar to try to be ready for Olympics. I can't say anything today, but my main goal now is to play the Olympics," he added.

Nadal has been eager to represent Spain in what is anticipated to be his final year on the ATP tour. He reiterated his commitment to the Olympics following his first-round exit at the French Open in May.

Nadal previously won an Olympic gold medal in singles in Beijing in 2008 and another in doubles with Marc Lopez at the Rio Games in 2016.
