RCB Coach Andy Flower Won't Be Applying For Team India Role, Here's Why

Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the eliminator, RCB head coach Andy Flower clarified that he has not applied for the position of Team India head coach.

This statement comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently invited applications for the men's national team head coach role, with the tenure set to begin on July 1 this year and run until December 31, 2027, the year of the next 50-over Cricket World Cup.

Andy Flower Focusing On Franchise Leagues

"I have not applied and I would not be applying for the job," Flower said during the post-match press conference.

"I am happy with my involvement in the franchise league at the moment. I am really enjoying it. It is fascinating stuff and I have worked with some amazing organisations and I am happy with that at the moment," he added.

Flower also discussed the future of wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as a player.

Prior to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, ESPNCricinfo reported that Karthik might be playing his final season. This speculation was hinted at throughout the tournament. Although Karthik has not officially announced his retirement from the IPL, his emotional hug with Virat Kohli after the loss and the RCB players' lap of honour suggested that this could indeed be his last season in the league.
