India is set to play a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka from August 2 to August 7. Currently, the Indian team is engaged in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, where they have already secured a 2-0 lead. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Harshit Rana have arrived in Colombo.

Rohit and Virat have retired from T20 internationals, while the other players are not part of the T20 squad. For the ODI series, many of the players are the same as those in the T20I series. After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit and Virat retired from T20 internationals and have returned after a brief break following the World Cup.

According to a reports, the new assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has also arrived in Colombo. Under his supervision, Rohit Sharma and the rest of the ODI squad will be practicing. Due to rain in Colombo, the Indian team's first-day practice session could not take place. The T20 series is being held in Pallekele, while all three ODI matches will be played in Colombo. Players like Hardik Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi, who are not part of the ODI team, will leave the Indian squad after the T20 series concludes. The remaining players, who are part of the ODI series, will travel from Pallekele to Colombo.
