Rohit Sharma reflected on his challenging IPL 2024 season after being replaced as the captain of the MI franchise. Admitting he didn't meet his standards this season, Rohit emphasized he avoided overthinking his performance. He regained form with an explosive 68 off 38 balls against LSG, but MI faced their 10th loss of the season, losing by 18 runs in their final home game at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 17.

Rohit Reflects On Disappointing Season For MI

In an interview with Jio Cinema post-match, Rohit discussed his mindset, stating he refrained from dwelling too much on his poor form during IPL 2024.

"As a batter, I know I didn't live up to the standard. But, after playing for all these years, I know that if I overthink, I won't play well," Rohit said.

Rohit's brilliant 68 was a rare highlight for fans in an otherwise disappointing season. The crowd gave the 37-year-old a standing ovation, acknowledging his years of dedication to the franchise.

"All I try is to stay in a good mindset, in the right zone, keep practicing, and improve on all the flaws in my game. That's all I kept doing." he added.

Rohit mentioned he continually works on himself despite setbacks and eventually sees results on the field.

"Our season didn't go according to plan. We blame ourselves for this because we made too many mistakes during the season. We lost many games that we should have won, but that's the nature of the IPL. You get a few chances and when those chances come, you must grab them."

After being relieved of his captaincy duties, Rohit started IPL 2024 strongly, providing MI with quick starts. However, following his century against CSK at Wankhede Stadium, his form dipped over the next six matches. Despite this, he finished as MI's highest run-scorer of the season with 427 runs in 14 matches, averaging 32.07.

Rohit Sharma also acknowledged that MI's season did not go as planned, marking the second time in three years the franchise finished at the bottom of the table.
