The Men in Blue stunned Pakistan with a thrilling six-run victory in their ICC T20 World Cup match on Sunday at Nassau County Stadium in New York, leaving the Indian cricket community ecstatic. With two more group stage games remaining, India's World Cup hopes remain alive thanks to a tight victory at a crowded Nassau County Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah's miserly three-wicket haul put pressure on Pakistan's batsmen, and Rishabh Pant's counterattacking, game-saving knock sealed the win.

The renowned Indian cricket player Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X that the bowlers in New York were the 'Apple of our eyes.'

Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, praised speedster Bumrah, stating, 'Bumrah, you are my hero.'

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag wrote, 'Haar se Jitane waale ko Bumrah kehte hain (The one who snatches win from jaws of defeat is Bumrah) What a fabulous spell and a very special win in New York,' acknowledging Bumrah's ability to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

Additionally, former middle-order batsman Suresh Raina praised India's 'great character and hunger' on X.

'Go Indian team! Congratulations! Fantastic character and a strong desire to defeat Pakistan' Raina tweeted.

India leads Group A with two wins in two games and four points following their thrilling victory. Having lost both of its matches against the USA and India, Pakistan is currently ranked fourth. Their chances of making it to the knockout stage appear minimal.

Before the game, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first against India. However, India's star openers Virat Kohli (4) and Rohit Sharma (13) failed to post significant scores, as the Indian hitters struggled on the difficult surface. Rishabh Pant (42 in 31 balls, with six fours) appeared to be playing on a different pitch, alongside Axar Patel (20 in 18 balls, with two fours and a six) and Suryakumar Yadav (7 in 8 balls, with a four). Despite their efforts, India could only muster 119 runs in 19 overs as the lower middle order collapsed under the pressure of scoring on such a challenging pitch.

The two best bowlers for Pakistan were Naseem Shah (3/21) and Haris Rauf (3/21). Shaheen Shah Afridi took home one scalp, while Mohammed Amir took home two.

Pakistan had a more cautious approach in the run-chase, and Mohammed Rizwan (31 in 44 balls, including a four and a six) held one end of the wicket steady. But Bumrah (3/14) and Hardik Pandya (2/24) retained Pakistan under pressure by taking significant wickets of captain Babar Azam (13), Fakhar Zaman (13), Shadab Khan (4), and Iftikhar Ahmed (5). Pakistan attempted to win it with Naseem Shah (10*) with 18 runs needed in the last over, but Arshdeep Singh (1/31) ensured that Pakistan lost by six runs.

After winning the match, Bumrah was named 'Player of the Match.'
