As Team India won their opening T20 World Cup match against Ireland 8 wickets on June 5, it was Indian star batter Virat Kohli who received all the attention after being dismissed at a single digit score in New York.

Poor Return For Virat Kohli

Making a return to the team after a short break following the Indian premier league season for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat was expected to bring his form into the Indian team as well and help India with his abilities with the bat.

However, it wasn't to be as Virat, who opened on the day alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in a modest chase of 97 runs against the Irish outfits was sent back to the pavilion in the 4th over courtesy of a Mark Adair delivery. The dismissal not only disappointed the Indian fans who had flocked the stadium to see their bat, but it also got Virat an unwanted record to his name.

Virat Kohli has now registered his lowest ever score while chasing a target in T20 World Cup. His 1 run against Ireland also got Virat another unwanted record, as he has been restricted to a single digit total against Ireland for the 3rd consecutive time in the T20 World Cup. Ireland are the only team to have achieved such a feat.

The 35-year-old will be looking to set his record straight and put up a good display against one of his favourite opponents and arch-rivals Pakistan in their next encounter in the T20 World Cup on June 9.
