Team India Stranded: The Indian cricket team's return home has been significantly delayed due to a hurricane-like situation in Barbados, leading to the suspension of air travel and confining the players to their hotel rooms. Rohit Sharma and his team, who triumphed over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final on Saturday, were scheduled to depart on Sunday. However, even by Monday, their return plans remain uncertain due to the ongoing severe weather conditions.

According to a report, the Barbados airport had to close down, canceling all flights due to the anticipated arrival of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl. Given the severity of the hurricane, authorities are unwilling to take any risks with air travel. Consequently, finalizing travel plans over the next 24 hours remains uncertain.

As reported, Hurricane Beryl is expected to impact the Windward Islands with winds surpassing 130 mph. The Hurricane Center has indicated that the storm could bring a storm surge of 6 to 9 feet and rainfall ranging from 3 to 6 inches.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah acknowledged inquiries about a possible felicitation ceremony for the players in India. He mentioned that arrangements will be finalized once the team departs from Barbados to India. Currently, everyone is stranded due to the ongoing situation.

The delayed return of India's T20 World Cup squad has disrupted plans for several players who are also scheduled to participate in a 5-match T20I series in Zimbabwe starting on July 06. As a result, some players may have their breaks cut short, given another international assignment is imminent.
