During the hearing, Vinesh’s legal team argued that her disqualification was not due to any fraudulent activity but rather because she exceeded the weight limit by 100 grams during the weigh-in prior to her gold medal match in the women’s 50kg wrestling category on Wednesday, August 7. Vinesh was represented by senior counsels Harish Salve and Vidushpat Singhania, both well-versed in advocating for athletes. The hearing was overseen by Dr. Annabelle Bennett from Australia, acting as the Sole Arbitrator.
