Wasim Akram Rips Into Pakistan Cricket Team After Humiliating Loss Against USA
As the United States of America created history in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating 2009 champions and 2022 runner-ups Pakistan in a thrilling fashion in Texas on June 6. Babar Azam's men fell to an embarrasing defeat which saw both teams going into the super over to decided the winner. Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram also reacted to the same and lambasted the team for an unacceptable peformance on the day.
'There can't be a bigger insult'
"The biggest insult for Pakistan cricket is losing the game in the Super Over. There can't be a bigger insult than this. The USA played exceptionally well. They didn't feel like a low-ranked side. It felt like they were ranked above Pakistan. That is the level of maturity they showed," Akmal said on his YouTube channel.
In the USA vs Pakistan match, Babar Azam’s team, after being sent in to bat first, posted 159/7 in their 20 overs. Babar Azam (44 off 43) and Shadab Khan (40 off 25) played pivotal roles in stabilizing the innings after a shaky start at 26/3 in 4.4 overs. Their crucial partnership of 72 runs in 48 balls helped steady the team. Later, Iftikhar Ahmed (18 off 14) and Shaheen Afridi (23* off 16) contributed vital runs, enabling Pakistan to reach 159/7 in the allotted overs.
