Xiaomi unveiled its first-ever foldable screen flip phone – Mix Flip – in China in July this year. The Xiaomi Mix Flip is the only flip phone after Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 to get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Therefore, the two devices will lock horns in different markets. The Mix was limited to Europe last month but now it has been launched globally, further intensifying the competition in the industry. The Mix Flip boasts a 6.86-inch OLED fold display and a 4.01-inch cover screen. It offers 3,000 nits of peak brightness and 1,600 nits in high brightness mode, which is a huge improvement in visibility, especially outdoors.
Android 14 and HyperOS come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mix Flip. Currently, the software update policy of the phone is unclear. It has artificial intelligence features like AI Interpreter and Circle to Search with Google. For added security, it gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device offers connectivity features like 5G, dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, USB-C, and NFC. For audiophiles, it has two Dolby Atmos speakers.

Xiaomi Mix Flip is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, UFS 4.0 storage on board and LPDDR5x RAM. The smartphone comes with a 3D vapor chamber cooling unit with a surface area of 3500 mm² for heat dissipation.
2. Big Cover Display
The Xiaomi Mix Flip gets an impressive 4.01-inch cover display with a resolution of 1392 x 1208 pixels, a pixel density of 460 ppi, a peak brightness of 3000 nits, DC dimming, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
When you unfold the Mix Flip, it turns into a 6.86-inch Crystal Res LTPO foldable display supporting a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, a resolution of 21912 x 1224 pixels, and a pixel density of 460 ppi. The display also supports a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It also supports HDR10, HDR10 , and Dolby Vision video content.
3. Better Cameras
The Mix Flip sports a 32-megapixel selfie camera, a 50-megapixel (OmniVision Light Fusion 800 - OV50E) sensor, and a 50-megapixel (OV60A telephoto lens, 2x optical zoom) dual shooter with OIS support on the back. Additionally, Lecia optimisations are also available.
4. 4,800mAh Massive Battery
The Xiaomi Mix Flip boasts a massive 4,780mAh battery, which is based on a high-energy-density silicon-carbon anode and supports 67W fast charging. This advanced battery technology helps the smartphone provide longer-lasting power.
5. Design
The Xiaomi Mix Flip measures 167.5 x 74.02 x 7.6 mm when unfolded and weighs 192 grams. When folded, it measures 85.54 x 74.02 x 15.99 mm. Buyers get two colour options to choose from black and purple. It gets an aluminium frame and supports floating positions at multiple angles from 45° to 120°. Additionally, the external display is protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass, offering durability.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip, available in a single 12GB 512GB variant, costs €1,299 in Europe. On the other hand, Z Flip 6’s 12GB 256GB and 12GB 512GB variants are priced at €1,199 and €1,319 respectively, in Europe.
