The Encounter In Abujhmad: A Major Blow To Naxalism

The encounter took place in the rugged terrain of Maad, a part of the larger Abujhmarh region, known for its difficult terrain and dense forest cover, which has provided cover for Naxal operations for decades. Acting on credible intelligence inputs regarding a gathering of Naxal cadres, the police, supported by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), launched a well-planned operation.

IG Bastar P Sundarraj confirmed that a total of 31 bodies of Naxalites have been recovered so far from the encounter site. In addition to neutralizing the insurgents, security forces also recovered a significant arsenal of weapons, including LMG (Light Machine Gun) rifles, AK-47s, SLR (Self-Loading Rifles), INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifles, .303 caliber rifles, and other arms.

The recovery of such advanced weaponry proves that the Naxal group involved in the encounter was well-armed and possibly planning a major operation or attack. The loss of such powerful weapons, coupled with the elimination of 31 insurgents, may severely impact Naxal operations in the region for the foreseeable future.
