Kolkata Rape-Murder: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday expressed serious concerns regarding the heart-wrenching details provided by the parents of a 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical Hospital recently.

The Governor came down heavily on the Mamata Banerjee-led state government in West Bengal for its alleged inaction in the trainee doctor's case. Governor Bose also slammed the state government for failing to ensure justice for the parents of the victim and emphasized that "two wrongs do not make a right."

Addressing the media, the Governor confirmed that the victim’s parents provided written details of the incident to him, which he discussed with the Home Minister.

Referring to the Kolkata rape and murder incident, he said, “Action was initiated within just two days, in response to the complaints.” He further added that the details disclosed by the victim’s parents are extremely heart-breaking.

Governor CV Ananda Bose Slams Bengal Administration

Governor Bose criticised the Bengal administration and urged the government to act decisively, reestablish public trust, and ensure accountability for sinners. He stressed that the situation in Bengal is alarming and condemned the administration for committing one error after another.

Governor Criticises Law Enforcement In Bengal

Bose further blamed the state’s law enforcement, noting that while laws exist, they are poorly enforced. He pointed out that some individuals receive undue protection under the law, and criticised a portion of police for being criminalized, corrupt, and politicized.

Governor Assures 'Justice Will Be Served'

Referring to the victim's parents, CV Ananda Bose stated, "We understand their feelings and demand for justice." According to ANI reports, the Governor remarked that the entire Bengal is calling for justice, and justice will be served.

Kolkata experienced a poignant display of civic unity as residents turned off their lights for an hour and took to the streets carrying candles. West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose also joined the demonstration by turning off the lights at the Raj Bhavan.
