Lok Sabha 2024: Polling Dates For West Bengal, Constituency Details And More
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Rajiv Kumar, declared that the Lok Sabha Elections will take place in 7 phases starting from April 19th, with the vote counting scheduled for June 4th. Polling in West Bengal will be included in all seven phases.
The first phase will occur on April 19th, the second phase on April 26th, the third phase on May 7th, the fourth phase on May 13th, the fifth phase on May 20th, the sixth phase on May 25th, and the seventh phase on June 1st, as announced by the CEC.
The EC further provided all the information for the polling dates in a document for people to understand the voting days for their respective parliamentary constituency.

The Chief Election Commissioner also revealed that there are a total of 968 million registered voters in India. "We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakhs polling stations, 1.5 crores polling officials and security staff, 55 lakhs EVMs, 4 lakhs vehicles," he said.
In the 2019 general elections in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 22 seats, marking a victory, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made considerable progress by securing 18 seats. In contrast, the Left Front managed to secure only two seats, and the Congress, once a dominant player in the state, faced a setback by failing to win any seats.
Additionally, the BJP's vote share surged from 17.02% and two seats in 2014 to 40.25% and 18 Lok Sabha seats in 2019. This shift underscored a significant change in the state's political dynamics, highlighting the BJP's increasing influence under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
