Manu Bhaker is the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympics after independence. On July 30, she and Sarabjot Singh made history by defeating South Korea in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard won silver medals in the 200-meter sprint and 200-meter hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, but that was before India's independence.

The Indian pair defeated Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 to win India's second medal in this Olympics. Earlier, Manu had won a bronze medal in the women's 10-meter air pistol event.

Manu still has to compete in the 25-meter air pistol event, where she has a chance to win a third medal. This competition will start on August 2. Sarabjot scored 577 in the 10-meter air pistol individual qualification, finishing ninth and missing the finals.

When asked if she could win three medals, she said she would try her best to win another one and go for the hat-trick.

Manu and Sarabjot scored 580 in the qualification round to reach the bronze medal match. After winning, Manu said, 'I feel very proud. Thank you to everyone for their good wishes.' She added, 'We can't control how the other team performs, but we can control our own performance. My partner and I gave our best and didn't give up until the end.'

Ambala shooter Sarabjot felt a lot of pressure to do well after not performing well in the individual category. He said, "I feel good. The competition was really tough, and there was a lot of pressure." At the Tokyo Olympics, Manu couldn't make it to the finals because of a problem with her pistol. But now, by winning two medals, she has made up for it.
