Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has been lauded with an 'A ' grade for his magnificent performance in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2024 for two years in a row. Taking to X formerly Twitter, industrialist Anand Mahindra clapped for the former, saying that Das was a "gold medalist in the Central Bank Olympics." According to Mahindra, Das's performance has duly realized his potential and proved his name to be very apt for this distinction. This award has brought out the great leadership of Das and his effectiveness at work.

Shaktikanta Das Earns Consecutive ‘A ’ Rating

On August 20, 2024, the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2024 awarded him an 'A ' grade for the second consecutive year. The rating, by Global Finance Magazine, is a validation of his superb leadership and management as a central banker. The 'A ' places him at the top bracket amongst central bank governors globally, like Denmark's Christian Kettel Thomsen and Switzerland's Thomas Jordan.

Central Bank Leaders With Top Ratings

The Global Finance Magazine's report card is thus an evaluation of the performance and effectiveness of central bank governors. Das’s sustained excellence earned him a high distinction this year, reflecting positively on his tenure and stability at the RBI.

Other central bank governors who got an 'A' grade were Roberto Campos Neto of Brazil, Rosanna Costa of Chile, Harvesh Kumar Seegolam of Mauritius, Abdellatif Jouahri of Morocco, Lesetja Kganyago of South Africa, Nandalal Weerasinghe of Sri Lanka, and Nguyen Thi Hong of Vietnam. Those people are recognized for their policies and other contributions that have kept the world's financial system stable.

Meanwhile, many central bank governors scored an 'A-' grade, as did Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank, Jerome Powell of the Federal Reserve, and others from Canada, Sweden, and Indonesia. These rating differences show the variance in performance and effect across the global central banking community.
