Bihar Health Centre Under Fire For Using Cardboard To 'Plaster' Man's Fractured Leg

In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, a young man's broken leg was treated by binding the leg with a cardboard box instead of a cast. Nitish Kumar, who injured his leg falling from his bike, was taken to Minapur Primary Health Center where a box was tied to his leg.

Mr. Kumar was then transferred to the nearby Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital College in Muzaffarpur. His family claimed that instead of removing the temporary splint and replacing it with a cast, no doctor visited him during the five days he was in the hospital.

According to the videos taken from the hospital, the young man is lying in bed in the corner of the room, and the cardboard sheet is still tied to his leg with a worn bandage.

According to Mr. Kumar, he was riding a motorcycle to Manipur when he fell from it and injured his leg. His leg was tied in a cardboard box at the health center before being sent to the hospital.

Hospital director Dr Vibha Kumari said the patient will be treated soon and doctors have been instructed to take care of him. He also said that the matter would be investigated to find out why the doctors did not treat him or replace the cardboard splint with plaster.

However, he denied the hospital was negligent and accused the primary care center of putting a cardboard splint on his leg.
